LETS KEEP SKATE ASIA ALIVE

Some of you skaters and coaches might wonder why we didn't do an event in 2009. Just like the year of SARS, we chose not to stage the event in 2009 primarily because of 2 factors. One was the world financial crisis which forced people to cut back on unnecessary spending and the other was the H1N1 virus. There is yet another reason why staging this event is difficult each year and it's the cost. Skate Asia is an enormous undertaking that usually takes 18 months to prepare. The planning and expense is overwhelming for most of the rinks in Asia and this is why its been held in Hong Kong twice, Kuala Lumpur twice and in Taipei and Manila as well as Shenzhen.

In order to make this event more affordable for rink operators, we are looking for ways to produce a quality event at a lower cost so that you will have a place to compete each summer.

Our effort in Hangzhou is our opportunity to produce a great event without all the extravagant trimmings. The quality of the event will not be compromised. The quality of the medals will be as good if not better. The transportation will be just as good. So, please join in Skate Asia 2010 and support our efforts to give you a great event.
